The Springfield Wildcats will challenge the Miamisburg Vikings at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Springfield is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
Springfield is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Trotwood-Madison 27-4 on Tuesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Wildcats with their most commanding win of the season.
Bo Hart made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hart was even better at the plate, getting on base in all six of his plate appearances with three runs and two RBI. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (four).

In other batting news, Brent Upshaw Jr. was incredible, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Springfield's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-6-1 when he doesn't). Elijah Cave was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Springfield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .673. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Miamisburg fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Springboro on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 8-7. The Vikings haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.
Bryce Vaughn was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Josh Williams, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Miamisburg's loss dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Springfield, the win got them back to even at 6-6-1.
Springfield skirted past Miamisburg 8-6 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vikings turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
