The Darrington Loggers will face off against the Quilcene Rangers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Darrington is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Lake Quinault get on the board and left with an 18-0 victory on Saturday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Loggers considering their one-run performance the match before.
Mason Chittick made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Chittick was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
In other batting news, Darrington got a massive performance out of Grady Stuvland, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with six stolen bases and three runs. Carter Snel was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base.
Darrington always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Quilcene strolled into their game on Saturday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against Crosspoint Christian.
Like Darrington, Quilcene also got a great game from a two-way player: Oliver Hopkins. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and only one walk). Hopkins has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Jayden Love was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. He continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played.
Quilcene's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-0. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Darrington, their win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-8.
Darrington might still be hurting after the 9-3 defeat they got from Quilcene when the teams last played back in March. Will the Loggers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
