Gridley is a perfect 10-0 against Live Oak since September of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will be playing at home against the Lions at 6:30 p.m. Live Oak took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Gridley, who comes in off a win.
On Thursday, Gridley made easy work of Las Plumas and carried off a 3-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Thunderbirds: they've now won eight in a row.
While Gridley won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 25-23, 25-5.

Gridley's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Tati Rivero, who had seven digs and five aces, and Isabel Santillan, who had three digs and two aces. Santillan has been hot for a while, having also posted 16 or more assists the last 21 times she's played.
They weren't the only good servers: Gridley was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Las Plumas only served six.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Live Oak took on Corning on Thursday. The Lions fell just short of the Cardinals by a score of 3-2. The Lions have struggled against the Cardinals recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Live Oak was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Corning work for it, especially in the fourth set. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 17-25, 23-25, 27-25, 15-4.
Live Oak now has a losing record of 9-10. As for Gridley, their victory bumped their record up to 18-10.
Gridley beat Live Oak 2-0 when the teams last played back in September. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
