Sierra Murray was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season.
In other batting news, Payton Walling was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Riley Humphrey, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4.
Rogers kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Kitsap only managed three hits.
Curtis not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 24, 2024. They were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over Bellarmine Prep. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
The victory was the third in a row for Rogers, bringing their record up to 4-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Curtis, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
Everything went Rogers' way against Curtis in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Rogers made off with a 10-0 win. Does Rogers have another victory up their sleeve, or will Curtis turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
