Softball Recap: Wellington Starts Season with Win Against Eaton

Wellington gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past the Eaton Reds 9-8. For the Eagles, this counts as revenge for the 10-0 win the Reds walked away with the last time they faced one another back in August of 2024.

Taylor Morgan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up 12 Ks.

At the plate, Kensley Story was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple. Camryn Strain was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Wellington will head out on the road to take on Lyons at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Eaton, they will challenge Peak to Peak at 1:30 p.m. on Friday.
