The Valmeyer Pirates's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They fell just short of New Athens by a score of 56-53. Valmeyer has not had much luck with New Athens recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Isaiah Lintker was his usual excellent self, scoring 30 points along with two steals for New Athens. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lintker has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tommy Dutkanych, who scored seven points along with six rebounds and three blocks.
Valmeyer dropped their record down to 1-7 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for New Athens, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-10.
Valmeyer will be playing in front of their home fans against New Athens at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully New Athens focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Friday. As for they, they will head out on the road to square off against Valmeyer at 7:30 p.m.
