The Seton Catholic Sentinels are taking a road trip to square off against the Coolidge Bears at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Seton Catholic has 11 straight wins, Coolidge has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Seton Catholic lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Northwest Christian, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday's contest. The Sentinels blew past the Crusaders 15-4 on Wednesday. Considering the Sentinels have won seven matchups by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Abbey Cota was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (four). She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.
Seton Catholic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .581. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Coolidge couldn't beat Florence on Friday even though they stacked five runs on them in the third inning. The Bears lost 24-8 to the Gophers.
Aubriana Cavazos made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Kassidy Mitchell also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Seton Catholic's record is now 11-0. As for Coolidge, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-8-2.
Coolidge's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Seton Catholic has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Coolidge, though, as they've been averaging only 2.5 strikeouts. Will Seton Catholic keep running through batters, or will the Bears buck the trend?
Seton Catholic suffered a grim 14-4 defeat to Coolidge in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Can the Sentinels avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
