Anclote hasn't had much luck against Land O' Lakes recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Sharks will head out on the road to square off against the Gators at 7:00 p.m. Anclote has given up an average of 20.1 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Anclote came up short against Central on Tuesday, falling 16-1.
Anclote saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ashley Pena Rodriguez, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
Land O' Lakes came out on top against Berkeley Prep on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run first inning. The Gators blew past the Buccaneers 8-2. Considering the Gators have won 11 games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Miyah Davis was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Gianna Flores was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Jordyn Morris was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Land O' Lakes was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Berkeley Prep only posted a batting average of .200.
Land O' Lakes has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 17 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games. As for Anclote, their loss dropped their record down to 0-18.
Anclote suffered a grim 12-0 defeat to Land O' Lakes when the teams last played back in April of 2023. Can the Sharks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
