Even though the Halls Red Devils scored an imposing 62 points on Friday, the Anderson County Mavericks still came out on top. Anderson County escaped with a win against Halls by the margin of a single free throw, 63-62. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Anderson County.
Halls' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kaiden Stanton, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Stanton has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Gabe Holmes, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Halls' lineup was just a bit different on Friday as Stanton got a bit more time on the court (26 vs. his season average of 13.11). Stanton made the most of the opportunity, scoring 15 points along with seven rebounds. A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.
Anderson County has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season. As for Halls, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-16.
