It was a good run, but the Bridgewater-Raritan Panthers unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 59-52 to Phillipsburg. While losing is never fun, Bridgewater-Raritan can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 170th, while Phillipsburg is ranked ninth).
It was another big night for Matthew Scerbo jr., who scored 23 points along with six rebounds and two steals for Phillipsburg. Scerbo jr. has been hot recently, having posted 17 or more points the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Ameer Herran, who scored 11 points.
Bridgewater-Raritan's defeat dropped their record down to 9-14. As for Phillipsburg, their win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bridgewater-Raritan and The Pingry School will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 8th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The Pingry School will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Bridgewater-Raritan surely won't give up without a fight. As for Phillipsburg, they will be playing at home against Bound Brook at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
