If the North Buncombe Black Hawks were riding high off their 46-23 takedown of the T.C. Roberson Rams last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. North Buncombe took a serious blow against McDowell on Wednesday, falling 61-29. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points North Buncombe has scored all season.
Despite the loss, North Buncombe had strong showings from Gracie Edmonds, who scored six points, and Lily Metcalf, who scored five points.
North Buncombe struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
McDowell's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kensly Stewart led the charge by scoring 15 points. Kimora Stewart was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
North Buncombe's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-3. As for McDowell, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-2.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Enka the next time they take the court. McDowell will host Enka at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, while North Buncombe will host them at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
