2A-1 Region III District 9 recap Oct. 16, 2012
Alan Peralta and Hunter Little provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Sabine. The connection was good for 55 yards, the longest such play in 2A-1 Region III District 9 this season.
Troup extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Jefferson, 26-22. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.
Harmony's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Peralta threw for 115 and two touchdowns and Little had 81 yards receiving. On the ground Tim McCoy chipped in 164 yards. Lucas Askew helped Harmony's passing attack out by catching two balls for 20 yards.
Harmony's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Eagles feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Peralta has thrown for 494 yards and seven touchdowns this season, while Askew has 21 catches for 256 yards. Juan Montoya leads the league in rushing with 567 yards.
The top two teams in 2A-1 Region III District 9 will face off this week when first place Troup takes on second place Tatum. Troup topped the Bulldogs last week, while Tatum beat White Oak.
The Eagles were the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to second in the league. Tatum defeated the Roughnecks 28-21 earlier in the week.
