The Fleming Wildcats won the last time they faced the Prairie Mustangs, and things went their way on Saturday too. Fleming sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 37-35 victory over Prairie. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Fleming has scored all year.
Fleming's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ciana Lousberg, who scored 13 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lousberg has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tori Champ, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Fleming is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. As for Prairie, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fleming and Akron will face off at 4:00 p.m. on January 18th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Akron is ranked 59th, while Fleming is ranked 57th). As for Prairie, they will head out on the road to challenge Wiggins at 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Wiggins focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 32 last Friday.
