Kennedy Catholic has gone 8-2 against Fordham Prep recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Gaels will head out to square off against the Rams at 4:15 p.m. Kennedy Catholic will be strutting in after a victory while Fordham Prep will be coming in after a loss.
Kennedy Catholic's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Monsignor Scanlan 12-0.
Kennedy Catholic got a great performance from Frank Lucchese as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Vince Cannizzaro was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Lorenzo Jorge was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Kennedy Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .629. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Monsignor Scanlan only posted an OBP of .222.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Fordham Prep's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell just short of Paramus Catholic by a score of 6-5.
Fordham Prep also got a good showing from Phil Soltes, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, Jack McKillop was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Miguel Reich also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Kennedy Catholic's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Fordham Prep, the defeat was their first at home , dropping their record down to 4-2.
Kennedy Catholic came out on top in a nail-biter against Fordham Prep in their previous matchup back in May of 2023, sneaking past 4-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Gaels since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
