1A-1 Region II District 8 recap Oct. 9, 2012
Ross Bostick of Boles ran for the longest rushing play in 1A-1 Region II District 8 this season against Cumby last week. Bostick's team topped the Trojans as he sprinted for 68 yards on the play and finished with 140 in all.
Boles moved up to 790 from 894 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Gordon Jordan's team was able to make the jump by beating Cumby 43-0.
Celeste's dynamic duo of Braden Morrow and Bryce Keiffer proved tough for Detroit to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Morrow threw for 92 yards and two touchdowns and Keiffer had 54 yards receiving. Justin Heuber helped Celeste's passing attack out by catching two balls for 29 yards.
The Blue Devils' Morrow and Keiffer have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Morrow has thrown for 559 yards this season, while Keiffer, a 5-foot-9 receiver, has 17 catches for 253 yards. Hunter Jordan from the Hornets leads the league in rushing with 565 yards.
A big matchup in 1A-1 Region II District 8 this week will be when Boles takes on Celeste. The Hornets are currently in second, while Demetrius Rector's team is in third.
There should be lots of points scored when Boles and the Blue Devils face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Hornets comes in having scored 193 this season, while Celeste has scored 115. Boles scored 43 points last week as it defeated Gary Parrish's team.
Honey Grove extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Maud, 40-22. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Warriors.
