Elijah Taylor and Kelson Free were among the main playmakers for Ezekiel Academy as the former posted 16 points and five rebounds and the latter had 13 points in addition to six assists and six boards. Free has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Justice Dakwa, who earned nine points and five rebounds.
Ezekiel Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 12 consecutive contests dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Springwood's good fortune finally ran out two weeks ago. They lost to Calvary Christian on the road by a 75-58 margin. The game marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.
Ezekiel Academy will have to keep a close watch on Clarence Moore and Kori Key, a pair of players who had a big impact on Springwood's prior game. Moore put up 25 points, while Key scored 25 points.
Ezekiel Academy's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Springwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest-scoring teams around. Ezekiel Academy hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 67.2 points per game. However, it's not like Springwood struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 71.2 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can put up more.
Ezekiel Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Springwood in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, winning 83-73. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
