On Thursday, the Lovington Wildcats faced the Roswell Coyotes in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Lovington came out on top against Roswell by a score of  59-50. The  victory was familiar territory for Lovington who now have six in a row.
 Lovington's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but  Erlin Salcido led the charge by  dropping  a double-double on 15 points and 15  rebounds. Those 15 points set a new season-high mark for her.  Ashelynn Borunda was another key contributor,  scoring 13 points along with six  rebounds and five  steals.
 Lovington's victory was  their sixth straight on the road, which  pushed their record up to 10-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.2 points per game. As for Roswell, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-3.
 Both  teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lovington won't have much time to rest: their next  game is against Albuquerque Academy at 1:30  p.m.  on December 29, 2023. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another  in New Mexico (Albuquerque Academy is ranked 26th, while Lovington is ranked 15th).
