The Seymour Indians's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 35-27 hit to the loss column at the hands of Southwestern. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Seymour of the 40-32 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2023.
Southwestern found their leader in underclassman Vivian Zurheide, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Zurheide continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Gracie Darr was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Seymour has not been sharp recently, as they've lost ten of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-23 record this season. As for Southwestern, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-15.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Seymour will take on Greenfield/Northwestern at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Southwestern, they will be playing at home against Maryville Christian at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Maryville Christian is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
