For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times Newman and Riverside Academy have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Thursday. The Newman Greenies never let the Riverside Academy Rebels get on the board and left with a 5-0 victory. The Greenies have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Rebels, too.

Newman moved to 6-8 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Riverside Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-6.

Looking ahead, Newman will challenge Sumner at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Riverside Academy, they will welcome Haynes Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Riverside Academy's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Haynes Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
