The Statesville Christian Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by Liberty Preparatory Christian 41-12. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Statesville Christian has scored all season.
Liberty Preparatory Christian found their leader in underclassman Leia Garrett, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Elizabeth Talbot, who scored four points along with eight steals.
Statesville Christian's defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-6. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.0 points per game. As for Liberty Preparatory Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 11-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Statesville Christian will square off against University Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Liberty Preparatory Christian on the road again on Tuesday and play against Gospel Light Christian at 12:00 p.m. on January 16th. Hopefully Gospel Light Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 32 last Monday.
