The Dilley Wolves had to endure a nine-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Cotulla by a score of 56-46 on Tuesday. This was payback for Dilley, who suffered a 54-52 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Dilley was led to victory by Dorian Aranda and Jacob Lopez. Aranda dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds, while Lopez scored 24 points along with five assists and four steals. It was the first time this season that Aranda scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Benjamin Gonzales, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds.
Dilley's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-19. As for Cotulla, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost 13 of their last 14 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-20 record this season.
Dilley will look to defend their home court on Friday against Crystal City at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Crystal City's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last nine matchups. As for Cotulla, they will head out on the road to take on Hondo at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cotulla is coming into the matchup with six straight losses on the road, meaning Hondo will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory.
