The Strom Thurmond Rebels scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 74-35 win over Columbia at home. Strom Thurmond has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 21 points or more this season.
Roosevelt Walker was his usual excellent self, scoring 20 points along with three steals. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Darrian Hendrix, who scored 11 points along with seven assists and two steals.
Strom Thurmond's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.8 points per game. As for Columbia, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-11.
Strom Thurmond will head out on the road to square off against Pelion at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Pelion will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 279th, while Strom Thurmond is ranked 91st). As for Columbia, they will square off against Calhoun County at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Calhoun County has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
