Softball Recap: Sheridan Extends Home Winning Streak to Nine

There's no place like home for Sheridan, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They never let the Pine Bluff Zebras get on the board and left with an 18-0 win on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Yellowjackets, who have now won 11 games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Rayleigh Umholtz made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five). She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Sheridan got a massive performance out of Skylar Sterritt, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, five stolen bases, and three runs. Those five stolen bases gave Sterritt a new career-high. Averie Redd was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

Sheridan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .815. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Sheridan pushed their record up to 12-2 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Pine Bluff, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.
