Needham and Framingham are an even 3-3 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. The Rockets will head out to face off against the Flyers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Needham will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
Needham came out on top against Weymouth on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run seventh inning. The Rockets took their game against the Wildcats 7-4. That's two games straight that the Rockets have won by exactly three runs.
Kaitlyn Cheng made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed seven innings while giving up four earned runs off eight hits. Cheng was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Audrey Muzikant, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Liv Kirschner, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Needham kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Framingham hadn't done well against Natick recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Flyers narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Redhawks 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Flyers have posted since May 24, 2025.
Like Needham, Framingham also got a great game from a two-way player: Tylani Rodriguez. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Rodriguez was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.
In other batting news, Sophia Lally was excellent, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Talia Murga also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Needham's record is now 11-2. As for Framingham, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-12.
Framingham's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Needham has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.7 hits per game. It's a different story for Framingham, though, as they've been averaging 9.7 hits. Given Needham's sizable advantage in that area, the Flyers will need to find a way to close that gap.
Needham got the 'W' when the teams last played back in May of 2024 against Framingham by a conclusive 12-0 score. Will the Rockets repeat their success, or do the Flyers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
