The West Central Trojans will face off against the Argos Dragons at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. West Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.
West Central's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They came out on top against Knox by a score of 3-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Trojans.
Not much got past Jalie Glasford, who gave up just three hits to keep Knox off the board. Glasford has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brooklynn Lattimore, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Meanwhile, Argos made easy work of Oregon-Davis on Friday and carried off a 17-5 victory. Considering the Dragons have won seven contests by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Ivy Stackhouse was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). Stackhouse was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Adelyn Lewark was incredible, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with six stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. Those six stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Maddie Overmeyer, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Argos always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .698. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
West Central pushed their record up to 11-5 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Argos, their win ended an 11-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 7-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. West Central has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Argos struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went West Central's way against Argos in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as West Central made off with a 22-4 victory. Will the Trojans repeat their success, or do the Dragons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
