Basketball Recap: Founders Classical Academy Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Adrik Butler and Rylan Gonzales

Founders Classical Academy has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 50-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the White Pine Bobcats on Saturday. If the Centurions were looking for revenge after losing 37-29 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the loss, Founders Classical Academy had strong showings from Rylan Gonzales, who posted 14 points, and Adrik Butler, who had 12 points. The dominant performance gave Gonzales a new career-high in points.

Zephen Nicholes had an outrageously good game for White Pine as he went 7 of 13 on his way to 21 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. Nicholes continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was McCaul Nicholes, who put up 11 points and four steals.

Founders Classical Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 10-3. As for White Pine, the win got them back to even at 8-8.

Founders Classical Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 53-38 victory against Adelson on the 14th. As for White Pine, they will head out on the road to face off against Needles at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Needles' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
