The Evergreen Christian Eagles lost against the Frederick W Warriors back in November of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The contest between both teams wasn't particularly close, with Evergreen Christian falling 38-21. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 321st in Virginia, while Frederick W is ranked 123rd in Maryland).
Despite the defeat, Evergreen Christian saw an underclassman step up: Veronica Brett scored four points along with eight rebounds and six steals. That's the first time this season that Brett pulled down eight or more rebounds.
Evergreen Christian has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season. As for Frederick W, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Evergreen Christian will square off against Independence at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Frederick W's road trip will continue as they head out to face Fairfax HomeSchool at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. Fairfax HomeSchool is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.
