They were just one part of a punishing run game: L.C. Bird was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 446 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 276 rushing yards in three consecutive matchups.
L.C. Bird's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Christopher Whitehead, Trent Trowell, and Shajuan McKensie Jr, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Meanwhile, Huguenot's offense rose to the challenge against a Trojans defense that boasted an average of only 14.6 points allowed on Friday. The Falcons blew past Midlothian 57-7. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by 50 points or more this season.
A big part of Huguenot's win came down to the chemistry between Charles Scott Jr and his top target Iveon Lewis. Scott Jr threw for 315 yards and five touchdowns on only 18 passes while Lewis picked up 176 receiving yards and three scores. With that strong performance, Lewis is now averaging an impressive 118.2 receiving yards per game.
L.C. Bird now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Huguenot, their record is now 3-1.
The upcoming contest will be a clash of competing strengths. L.C. Bird has deployed a run-first offense that has averaged 216.6 rushing yards a game. Meanwhile, Huguenot has preferred to attack from the air: they average 305 passing yards per game. So which strategy will prevail on Friday? There's only one way to find out.
L.C. Bird was dealt a bruising 41-14 loss at the hands of Huguenot in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Can the Skyhawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
