The Santaluces Chiefs had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Forest Hill 57-54. That's another feather in the cap for Santaluces, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Decarious Jenkins continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 25 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Tremaine Hollis, who scored eight points.
Despite the loss, Forest Hill still got an impressive performance from Cameran Phillips, who scored 19 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Phillips has scored all season. Trenton Davis was another key contributor, scoring five points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Santaluces pushed their record up to 6-8 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points per game. As for Forest Hill, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-11.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Santaluces won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Atlantic at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. Atlantic has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 371 points over their last five games. As for Forest Hill, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Dr. Joaquin Garcia at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Dr. Joaquin Garcia is ranked 476th, while Forest Hill is ranked 482nd).
