The Bedford Bearcats will take on the Maple Heights Mustangs in a tournament on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Maple Heights will be up against a hot Bedford team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Bedford came within six points of losing the streak, but they secured a 60-54 W against Lorain. Given the Bearcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 94th, while the Titans are ranked 256th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bedford's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Terrell Pollard, who dropped a double-double with 22 points and ten rebounds. Pollard has been hot for a while, having posted nine or more boards the last 19 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Kevin Woodgett III, who posted 14 points in addition to seven assists and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Maple Heights was beaten by Garfield Heights 93-55 on Thursday. The Mustangs have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Bedford will have to contain Kaelon Hurt as he made an impact in Maple Heights' last game. He put up 26 points. Maple Heights is 2-1 when Hurt posts 20 or more points, but 8-9 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Andre McCullough, who had seven points.
Maple Heights' loss dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Bedford, their win bumped their record up to 15-7.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest-scoring teams around. Bedford hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 58.5 points per game. However, it's not like Maple Heights struggles in that department as they've been averaging 65 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can put up more.
Bedford was able to grind out a solid victory over Maple Heights in their previous matchup two weeks ago, winning 60-53. Does Bedford have another victory up their sleeve, or will Maple Heights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
