Even though the Cedar Mountain Cougars scored an imposing 57 points on Friday, the St. Mary's Knights still came out on top. Everything went St. Mary's way against Cedar Mountain as St. Mary's made off with a 80-57 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for St. Mary's.
Will Walter continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 31 points along with five assists and five rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of St. Mary's points. Brandon Schmitz was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six rebounds.
St. Mary's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 83.4 points per game. As for Cedar Mountain, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.
St. Mary's will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton at 7:30 p.m. on December 29th. As for Cedar Mountain, they will head out on the road to face off against Nicollet at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Nicollet comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
