The Olathe Pirates's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by Roaring Fork 90-52. Olathe has struggled against Roaring Fork recently, as their contest on Friday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Olathe's loss came despite strong showings from Isaiah Gordon and Miguel Vargas. Gordon scored 19 points, while Vargas scored 15 points. That was a full 36.5% of Olathe's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Jeyden Estrada was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Roaring Fork got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Noel Richardson out in front who scored 25 points along with six rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiko Pena, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 17 rebounds.
Olathe's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Roaring Fork, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 4-8 record this season.
Olathe will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Grand Valley at 7:00 p.m. Grand Valley has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Roaring Fork won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Gunnison at 2:00 p.m. on January 20th.
