Basketball Game Preview: Hamilton Christian Warriors vs. Grand Lake Hornets

The Hamilton Christian Warriors will venture away from home to challenge the Grand Lake Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hamilton Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.7 points per game this season.

Hamilton Christian is headed into the match having just posted their biggest victory since January 26, 2024 on Tuesday. They breezed by Oberlin to the tune of 78-32. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 87th, while the Tigers are ranked 373rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hamilton Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Justin Weston, who almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine rebounds. Those 22 points gave Weston a new career-high. Seth Ned was another key player, going 8 for 19 en route to 21 points in addition to eight boards and three steals.

Hamilton Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Grand Lake was fully in charge on Tuesday, breezing past Basile 53-16. The Hornets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 20 points or more this season.

The win was the third in a row for Hamilton Christian, bringing their record for this year to 11-6. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.7 points per game. As for Grand Lake, their victory bumped their record up to 13-11.

Everything came up roses for Hamilton Christian against Grand Lake in their previous meeting back in February of 2022, as the team secured a 59-28 win. In that game, Hamilton Christian amassed a halftime lead of 33-10, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
