Leading Gilbert Christian to victory were Kaila Aston and Unesu Machiri. Aston scored five points along with seven rebounds and three blocks, while Machiri scored 15 points along with four steals.
Despite the loss, Yuma Catholic still got an impressive performance from Amanda Wiley, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. The match was Wiley's 13th in a row with at least ten points.
Gilbert Christian now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Yuma Catholic, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gilbert Christian will take on Red Rock at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Red Rock will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 292nd, while Gilbert Christian is ranked 102nd). As for Yuma Catholic, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Kingman at 5:30 p.m. Kingman is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.
