The Pulaski County Maroons will head out to challenge the Mercer County Titans at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Pulaski County fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Rockcastle County on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Rockets by a score of 7-6.
Rilee Ross put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing eight innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off 11 hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in walks (zero). She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Brooklyn Thomas was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with six stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Ryann Sowder was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, Mercer County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-3 heartbreaker at the hands of Boyle County.
Reese Ransdell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five runs (all of which were unearned) on eight hits.
At the plate, Izzie Carlton made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.
Pulaski County's record now sits at 11-11. As for Mercer County, their record is now 11-9.
Pulaski County suffered a grim 22-4 defeat to Mercer County when the teams last played back in March of 2025. Can the Maroons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
