Two dominant players in Porter Hansen and Dylan Mceachern are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The San Clemente Tritons will be playing at home against the Laguna Beach Breakers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
San Clemente has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 21 points or more this season. They blew past Irvine 58-33. The win was nothing new for San Clemente as they're now sitting on three straight.
Hansen continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 14 points along with five rebounds and three blocks. The matchup was his ninth in a row with at least ten points. Will Whidden was another key contributor, scoring six points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Laguna Beach beat Tesoro 51-46 last Saturday. Given Laguna Beach's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 139th, while Tesoro is ranked 396th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
San Clemente is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. As for Laguna Beach, their victory bumped their record up to 8-3.
San Clemente beat Laguna Beach 63-52 in their previous matchup two weeks ago. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Mceachern, who scored 23 points. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will San Clemente still be able to contain him? There's only one way to find out.
