The Legacy Lightning struggled with offensive rebounds on Friday (the Erie Tigers had eight more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Legacy received a tough blow as they fell 51-37 to Erie. While losing is never fun, Legacy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 159th, while Erie is ranked 23rd).
When it comes to explaining why Legacy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Olivia Mortensen. Despite the final result, she scored 20 points along with six rebounds and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Meghan Allshouse, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Erie's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Maddie Hartel, who scored 17 points along with two steals. Isabel Adorno was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with four steals.
Legacy's defeat was their sixth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-9. As for Erie, their win bumped their record up to 8-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Legacy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Broomfield at 12:00 p.m. on January 20th. Hopefully Broomfield focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Thursday. Erie won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Poudre at 3:00 p.m. on January 20th. Hopefully Poudre focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Thursday.
