The Mt. Vernon Mountaineers will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Lebanon Yellowjackets at 5:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 66-18, which was the final score in Mt. Vernon's tilt against West Plains on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Lebanon was the victim of a rough 77-54 defeat at the hands of Logan-Rogersville on Tuesday. Lebanon has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Bodie Cox put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored 18 points along with 6 rebounds and 4 steals. She scored a full 33.3% of Lebanon's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Myers, who scored 10 points along with 4 steals.
With Mt. Vernon's victory and West Plains' defeat, both teams now sport identical 1-1 records.
Mt. Vernon was able to grind out a solid victory over Lebanon in their previous meeting back in December of 2019, winning 54-46. Will Mt. Vernon repeat their success, or does Lebanon have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
