Mattamuskeet is 0-10 against Cape Hatteras since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Mattamuskeet Lakers' homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Cape Hatteras Hurricanes at 6:00 p.m. on February 9th. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 51-7, which was the final score in Mattamuskeet's tilt against Bear Grass Charter on Tuesday. Mattamuskeet was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 29-7.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Cape Hatteras' good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They lost to Bear Grass Charter at home by a decisive 58-39 margin. Cape Hatteras found out winning isn't easy when you make six fewer threes than your opponent.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Abby O'Neal, who scored eight points along with 13 rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games she's played. Paizley Schultz was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with eight rebounds.
Mattamuskeet dropped their record down to 1-14 with that loss, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Cape Hatteras, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-7.
