and also scored the game-winner on a 12-yard scamper with 12 seconds
left. Has rushed for 1,590 yards and 19 touchdowns and has thrown for
986 yards and 15 touchdowns.

win its 24th D-II state title. Finished first in the 200 IM, 100 back
and 200 free relay. Was runner-up in the 400 free relay.

and Notre Dame recruit was a part of three first place finishes and a
second as the Beavers became the first public school since 1987 to win
the OHSAA Division I state title. Swam a leg on the winning 200 medley
and 400 freestyle relays and was state champion in the 200 free. Was
state runner-up in the 100 breaststroke.

* Camden McDanel, Teays Valley (Ashville) WrestlingJunior
won the D-I Central District title at 190 pounds with a 5-3 overtime
victory over two-time and defending state champion Seth Shumate of
Dublin Coffman. Shumate (43-3) had won his previous three district
matches with pins in 0:28, 0:58 and 0:22. McDanel (38-3) was state
runner-up at 182 last season.
* Erin Delahnuty & Gianna Ravagnani, Brecksville-Broadview Heights GymnaticsThe
tandem tied as state champions on the vault and were major parts of the
Bees 19th straight team title. Delahunty finished third in the
all-around, while Ravagnani, who also won a state title in floor, was
fourth.

and West Virginia recruit had 28 points, nine rebounds and three
assists in a 63-56 overtime victory over Mason in the OHSAA D-I state

went 4-for-4 with two home runs, eight RBI and four runs in a 15-2 win
over Smithville. Two days earlier she went 3-for-4 with two doubles and

* Kylie Gorsuch, Green (Uniontown) SoftballJunior
had back-to-back two-home run games in win over Lake (8-0) and Field
(13-2). She ended the week with five home runs, 10 RBI and five runs as
the Bulldogs also beat Barberton (10-0 and St. Vincent-St. Mary (4-0).
* Addison Arnold, Bryan SoftballSenior
had an incredible week. Went 3-for-4, with five RBI, two runs, a double
and a walk-off grand slam in an 8-6 win over Edgerton. Also allowed one
hit and struck out 11 in five innings of relief pitching. Followed that
by throwing a no-hitter and striking out 13 in a 10-0 win over Elta
(was 2-3for-3 at the plate with an RBI and run scored). Completed the
week by striking out 28 batters and smacking a walk-off double in a
13-inning 2-1 win over Hilltop. She did not walk a batter in 22 innings
of work last week.

tossed back-to-back no-hitters and struck out a combined 20 batters in
wins over McKinley (11-0) and East Palestine (13-0). Also went 3-for-3
with two home runs, a triple, seven RBI and three runs in a 14-0 win
over McKinley. All told was 9-for-10 with 11 RBI, two HRs, two triples
and a double in the tree wins. Batting .692.

went 4-0 on the mound with 64 strikeouts in wins over Fairbanks (4-1),
Mechanicsburg (5-3), Madison Plains (8-0) and Northeastern (2-0). Also
had a home run in three consecutive games. Batting .627 with 27 runs, 20
RBI, 10 doubles and five home runs. Is 14-0 on the mound with 209 Ks.

* Daunevyn Woodson, Gallia Academy (Gallipolis) Boys Track & FieldSenior
won four district titles – 100 (10.88), 200 (23.04), long jump (22-5)
and 400 relay (43.76) – at the Division II district meet hosted by
Meigs.
* Maddie Blazey, Kenston (Chagrin Falls) Girls LacrosseSenior
had eight goals and an assist in a 21-1 win over Beaumont and seven
goals and two assists in a 16-6 win over Lake. Has 83 points (66 goals
and 17 assists) this season.
* Jordyn Wycuff, Watkins Memorial (Pataskala) SoftballSophomore
went 5-for-6 with four home runs, four runs and six RBI in wins over
Dublin Coffman (10-3) and Westerville Central (9-1). Batting .554 with
47 RBI, 33 runs and 10 home runs.

* Emily Moore, Portsmouth West (West Portsmouth) SoftballSophomore
went 2-for-3 with two home runs, two RBI and two runs in a 9-2 loss to
Wheelersburg. Also went 3-for-4 with two runs in a 7-0 win over
Crooksville. Batted .451 with 42 runs, 36 RBI, 11 home runs and 10
doubles this season.
* Kaitlyn Byrne, Rocky River Girls LacrosseSophomore
had six goals and two assists in a 16-5 win over CVCA and three goals
in a 15-3 win over Wash Jesuit. Has scored 76 points (with 59 goals)
this season.
Week 42 Ohio High School Athlete of the Week Nominees
* Carter Wachtel, Triway (Wooster) SoftballSophomore
pitcher tossed all 14 innings in the state tournament as the Titans won
the D-II state title with wins over Heath (3-0 in semis) and Jonathan
Alder (2-1 in final). Had 25 strikeouts, no earned runs and allowed four
hits combined.
* KK Mathis, Lakota West (West Chester) SoftballSenior
pitcher and James Madison recruit tossed all 14 innings in the state
tournament as the Firebirds became the first team from Southwest Ohio
since 1985 to win the D-I state title with wins over Hoover (13-4 in
semis) and Holland Springfield (9-2 in final). Also went a combined
5-for-6 with six RBI, seven runs, two doubles and a home run in the two
games.
