Los Angeles CES hasn't had much luck against Palisades recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Unicorns will look to defend their home field against the Dolphins at 2:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Los Angeles CES' pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed two weeks ago. Everything went their way against Hamilton as they made off with an 8-0 win. That looming 8-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Unicorns yet this season.
Reese Wuu and Julie Segel made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Wuu didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Segel pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At bat, Wuu went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base, while Segel went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dhalia Rocha, who went 1-for-3 with four stolen bases and one run. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Marylin Rocha, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
Los Angeles CES was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Palisades waltzed into their match on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 16-15 W against the Comets.
Like Los Angeles CES, Palisades also got a great game from a two-way player: Kharlee Sanders. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Sanders was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other pitching news, Sarah Feldman looked comfortable as she struck out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Celia Elisha was incredible, firing off five RBI, three doubles, and two runs while going 4-for-4. Amanda Brown was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs and two RBI.
