Hart hasn't had much luck against Saugus recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Hawks will host the Centurions at 3:15 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
As a matter of fact, Hart put up the most runs they have all season on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Golden Valley with a sharp 11-1 win. The victory continues a trend for the Hawks in their matchups with the Grizzlies: they've now won four in a row.
Ellie Hodge was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (two). She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Naima Melendez, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Makenzie Druez, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
Hart hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 2-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Saugus ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They walked away with an 11-8 win over West Ranch.
Savanna Smith was incredible, going 4-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Amelia Johnson was another key player, going 2-for-5 with three RBI and one double.
Hart's victory bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Saugus, their win bumped their record up to 9-5.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Hart hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Saugus struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Hart suffered a grim 20-1 defeat to Saugus in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Hawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
