Basketball Recap: Addie Long Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Asheville

A.C. Reynolds won the last time they faced Asheville and things went their way on Tuesday too. The A.C. Reynolds Rockets walked away with a 62-53 win over the Asheville Cougars. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rockets.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead A.C. Reynolds to victory, but perhaps none more so than Addie Long, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 boards. Long is becoming a predictor of A.C. Reynolds' success: when she posts at least eight rebounds the team is 3-1 (and 3-4 when she doesn't). Mary Green was another key player, putting up 12 points along with five assists and five boards.

A.C. Reynolds was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Asheville only racked up ten assists.

Despite the loss, Asheville still got an impressive performance from Hayziah Dillingham, who went 7 of 11 on her way to 14 points in addition to seven boards and four steals. Dillingham is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed four or more in the last eight games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Hennie Calloway, who went 5 of 12 on her way to 13 points and eight boards.

A.C. Reynolds now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Asheville, their loss dropped their record down to 8-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A.C. Reynolds will venture away from home to challenge West Henderson at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. A.C. Reynolds is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.1 points per game this season. As for Asheville, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against T.C. Roberson at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (T.C. Roberson has won four straight at home, while Asheville won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
