Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Deer Park). They strolled past the Clear Falls Knights with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 49-35. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Deer also won the last time the pair played back in September of 2024.
Deer Park found their leader in sophomore Haden Lafrenz, who threw for 258 yards and three TDs while picking up 11.7 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 78 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 11 carries. John Arthur-French Jr. was Lafrenz's top target, picking up 98 receiving yards and one score.
Several Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kyden Barker, who threw for 295 yards and a pair of TDs. Clear Falls' leading receiver Zach Greer was Barker's top target yet again, picking up 137 receiving yards and one touchdown.
The win got Deer Park back to even at 2-2. As for Clear Falls, the defeat was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 2-2.
Looking ahead, Deer Park will venture away from home to challenge Clear Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Deer will be up against the Wildcats' rather soft defense (which has allowed 36 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Clear Falls, they will square off against Brazoswood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 911 yards in their previous games.
