The Durfee Hilltoppers''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 41-22 to Dennis-Yarmouth Regional.
Jayden Barber continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Dennis-Yarmouth Regional, rushing for 120 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries, while also throwing for 299 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 13.0 yards per attempt. Peyton Kellett also helped out with an impressive 205 receiving yards.
Durfee's defeat was their eighth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-6. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-0 Dartmouth and 7-0 Fairhaven (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 63.5% over those games). As for Dennis-Yarmouth Regional, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Durfee will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Brockton at 12:00 p.m. on October 28th. As for Dennis-Yarmouth Regional, they will challenge Somerset Berkley Regional at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Somerset Berkley Regional will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
