The Burke Bulldogs waltzed into their contest on Sunday with three straight wins but they left with four. They walked away with a 72-64 win over Lynn English. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Denzell Guillen, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. Guillen is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Pierre Veras, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds.
Burke's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Lynn English, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-3.
Burke will be playing at home against Boston English at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Lynn English, they will head out on the road to take on Revere at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Revere will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Massachusetts Rankings (they are ranked 232nd, while Lynn English is ranked 69th).
