After losing to the Swainsboro Tigers the last time they met, the East Laurens Falcons decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. East Laurens slipped by Swainsboro 45-44 on Saturday. The win made it back-to-back wins for East Laurens.
East Laurens got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was McKayela Tanner out in front who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Tanner has scored at least 25% of East Laurens' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Deanna Lowther, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and seven steals.
When it comes to explaining why Swainsboro lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jayden Wynn. Despite the final result, she scored 14 points. De'Zaria Jordan was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with nine rebounds.
East Laurens is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. As for Swainsboro, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
East Laurens and Wheeler County will face off at 6:00 p.m. on December 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Wheeler County is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
