The Corvallis Blue Devils will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Stevensville Yellowjackets at 7:00 p.m. Corvallis will be strutting in after a victory while Stevensville will be coming in after a loss.
Last Friday, Corvallis faced Hamilton in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Corvallis secured a 17-13 W over Hamilton.
Corvallis' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dillen Potter, who picked up 53 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Corvallis also got a significant boost from Logan Avery, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 138 yards.
Meanwhile, Stevensville's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were outmatched by Frenchtown at home and fell 48-20. Stevensville was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-0.
Gunnar Larson put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 165 yards and two touchdowns. Larson was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 55 yards.
Corvallis' win was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 39.8 points per game. Stevensville has been struggling this season, as they've lost seven of their first eight matches, which leaves them at a 1-7 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Corvallis against Stevensville in their previous matchup back in September of 2022 as the squad secured a 37-8 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Stevensville's Kellan Beller, who rushed for 164 yards while picking up 7.1 yards per carry. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Corvallis to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
