It was another big night for Chance Humphrey, who threw for 238 yards and three TDs, and also punched in one score on the ground. His passing game has become a key predictor of Flanagan's success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Flanagan proved: they limited Hallandale to a paltry -3.4 yards per carry. The team can thank Jahmar Williams for the heroic effort on defense: he. Flanagan didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 7.6.
Flanagan's defense also made the game a nightmare for the opposing QB, racking up 12 sacks. Travis McGill and Williams were the leaders of the group effort as each produced four apiece. Flanagan received some extra help from Ronald Thomas, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Meanwhile, South Broward can bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. In a tight game that could have gone either way, they made off with a 21-20 victory over Nova.
South Broward found their leader in freshman Steven Wright, who threw for 179 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 17 passes, and also rushed for 110 yards on only 12 carries. Those 110 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Wright.
Flanagan's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for South Broward, their victory bumped their record up to 3-5.
Flanagan was able to grind out a solid win over South Broward when the teams last played back in October of 2024, winning 17-6. Do the Falcons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
