The Chaparral Wolverines will take on the Prairie View Thunderhawks at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Chaparral is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
Chaparral was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Eaglecrest on Saturday. The Wolverines were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Raptors. The Wolverines might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by six runs or more this season.

Carson Munroe was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and not a single walk). Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Chaparral got a massive performance out of Ryne Dodson, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs Dodson has posted since back in March. Logan Manuello was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Chaparral always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Prairie View had already won 14 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.6 runs) and they went ahead and made it 15 on Friday. They never let the Bulldogs get on the board and left with a 5-0 win.
Like Chaparral, Prairie View also got a great game from a two-way player: Favi Gaeta. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Gaeta has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run.
In other batting news, Giovanni Tarin was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged two or more in each of the last four games he's played.
Prairie View's victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Chaparral, their victory bumped their record up to 13-9.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Chaparral hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Prairie View struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Chaparral couldn't quite get it done against Prairie View in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 5-2. Will the Wolverines have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
